Practice Terms and Conditions for Holistic Care
Dr. Tracy Duffner is a licensed veterinarian and a certified veterinary acupuncturist. When seeking care from Island Holistic Pet Services, LLC (IHPS), clients are consenting to treatment of their animals with acupuncture, herbal remedies, homeopathy, nutritional advice, behavior consultation, and referral for further care when indicated. Services are currently provided on a housecall basis only. All imaging, surgery, hospitalization, and procedures requiring a clinical facility will be referred to the practice most suited for the individual patient and client's needs. Surgical procedures and medical procedures outside of the holistic framework are not provided by this practice, and if the client requests these services, they will be referred to the appropriate practice to serve their animal's needs. The initial consultation is $235. After this, additional acupuncture sessions are $145 (per pet) unless the session goes over 75 minutes. After this time, an hourly rate of $145/hour starts. This fee will also be applied if there are extensive follow up phone consultations (excluding routine email and phone reporting) and after hours text messaging. Travel fees are additional. Service estimates will be provided on request. All sales on herbals, supplements, and homeopathic medications are final. Payment is accepted by cash, check, Venmo, or major credit cards. Payment is expected at the time of service. Payment for lab tests and medication/herbal orders will be collected up front; the order will be placed once payment is received. Medications or herbs that are not able to be drop-shipped can be picked up from Dr. Duffner's home location or can be delivered for an additional travel fee. Medication refill and herb requests need to be submitted by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Business hours are 9 am–5pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Routine communication will be delivered during these hours. Consultations are available outside of these business hours by request and on a limited availability basis only. IHPS is closed on Wednesdays and weekends. IHPS is closed to observe all major holidays. Due to the logistics of housecall practice, Dr. Duffner is not available for emergencies during or after business hours. If your pet has an emergency at any time, please contact your primary care veterinarian, the Savannah Veterinary Emergency Clinic, or Charleston Veterinary Referral Center.
Prior to a patient's first appointment, all medical records from every veterinary practice the patient has been registered with are required to be emailed to email@example.com. Medical records are necessary to properly evaluate health history for holistic treatment and to permit an efficient intake evaluation. If it is at all possible to obtain a copy of imaging and blood work results, please have these emailed as well. The new client/patient forms need to be completed at least 2 business days prior to the initial consultation to allow Dr. Duffner and staff time to review the information and plan for the initial visit. If the new client/patient forms are not completed in this timeframe, IHPS reserves the right to reschedule the appointment.
Island Holistic Pet Services requests cancellation notice of at least one business day. If an appointment is cancelled with less than one business day of notice, or if the client is a "no show" at the time of the appointment, there will be a $100 cancellation fee applied to the account, and IHPS reserves the right to charge a non-refundable deposit to schedule the patient's next appointment. For multi-pet appointments, a $100 deposit is required to schedule. Due to the difficulty both in rescheduling multi-pet appointments and in filling the gap that a cancelled appointment leaves, this deposit will be forfeited if the multi-pet appointment is rescheduled or cancelled even with more than one business day's notice.
Email, phone calls, and text messaging are only to be used for routine communication. Emails, voicemails, and text messages will be checked several times throughout the week, but this varies with appointment schedules and practice caseload. Please allow one business day for messages to be returned. Due to the nature of this practice, the majority of doctor and technician time is spent with the clients in their homes, thus limiting the ability to answer and return phone calls immediately. Emails, phone calls, and text messages are not routinely monitored or responded to outside of business hours. After hours text messaging will incur a fee on the account as listed above. Island Holistic Pet Services does not provide emergency call. If the patient has an emergency, the client understands that the primary care veterinarian (general practitioner) or nearest emergency hospital is to be contacted.
